Your first class: what to expect

Walking into a Jiu-Jitsu gym for the first time can feel like a lot. Here's how it goes at Alliance Puerto Rico.
Before you come. Book your free class online and sign the waiver. Try to arrive 10 to 15 minutes early so we can say hi and show you around.
What to wear. Comfortable workout clothes are fine for your first class. A rash guard or T-shirt and shorts or leggings without zippers work best. Bring water and flip-flops for off the mat.
How class runs. We start with a warm-up, then the coach teaches a technique and you practice it with a partner. Beginners are paired with people who will go slow and help you learn.
How you'll feel. Tired, probably a little lost, and ready to come back. That's normal. Every black belt started exactly where you are.
